FY 2026
SPORT, ARTS AND CULTURE
Support to the soul of the nation
Through the PES – known as PESP in the sector – an unprecedented scale of stimulus has been provided to creative work. Now in its fifth phase, the National Arts Council, the National Film and Video Foundation, the National Museum and the National Heritage Council are supporting a wide range of initiatives, enabling creatives to create jobs not only for themselves but for others too – while producing art, music, drama, craft, poetry, animations, movies and much more. All of this is supporting creative work at an unprecedented scale, feeding the soul of the nation – with research showing real multiplier effects for jobs and growth in the sector, too.

(Data captured up until March 2025)
The Presidential Employment Stimulus consolidates data reported by participating departments. This data is subject to ongoing verification and audit by departments. The numbers reported may change based on final verification and audit outcomes. Where work opportunities straddle financial years, the audit process requires that they are reported in both years. For example, Teachers Assistants who start work in February and continue into the next financial year. To avoid ‘double counting’ of participants, this is corrected under ‘total opportunities’ reported. Note however that under the performance breakdown, the cumulative annual figures are presented.
